Cardiff University Hosts ‘Golden Ticket’ Contest for Free Life-Long Tuition

Ever wish you were Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, or Harry Potter in the Triwizard Tournament? Well, hold onto your seats, because Cardiff University, one of Britain’s leading teaching and research facilities, is hosting a new contest for their students and it sounds a whole lot like winning a golden ticket! The prize is free tuition for life, which means not just an undergraduate degree but also as many masters degrees, PhD degrees and law degrees as the winner desires to accumulate. And the total value of the prize is estimated at around $78,000!!

Sounds ideal, right? But it’s not quite that easy. Students who want to win the money must participate in a series of challenges over the course of the next year to prove that they are worthy of receiving free life-long education.

According to the university, “Cardiff will be looking for a student with outstanding passion, commitment and intelligence, reflecting its reputation as one of the UK’s leading academic institutions.”

And while the first rounds will take place online, the final will bring finalists together for a live head-to-head challenge. The contest will test students on five key subject areas spanning science, engineering and the humanities.

Louise Casella, the director of strategic development at Cardiff says, “The challenge provides a fantastic opportunity to an exceptional student who can demonstrate the qualities we seek in our applicants and which we nurture in our students,” she said.

The contest is open to all prospective students in the UK and the European Union, and the first round will be posted on their site later this month. All finalists will earn scholarships toward their education.
