After Cardi Bās conspicuous wardrobe choice at the iHeart Radio Awards last month, weāve all been waiting to see when and if Cardi B would reveal her baby bump. Thankfully, sheĀ didnāt keep us on a cliffhanger for long, because she showed off her bump in her elegant white dress, during her Saturday Night Live appearance. As Cardi Bās recently released album, Invasion of Privacy, has us simultaneously bobbing our heads and crying about a breakup from three years ago, Cardi spoke candidly about why she decided against getting an abortion and chose to keep her baby.
During an interview on Charlamagne tha Godās talk show, The Breakfast Club which is affiliated with Power 105.1, Cardi B talked about her pregnancy and entering the world of motherdom. According to PEOPLE, Cardi used the interview to respond to the online strangers, who invaded her privacy by offering unsolicited advice about how motherhood would destroy her career.
After Cardi took some time to address the trolls, E! News notes that she did briefly consider terminating her unplanned pregnancy. Cardi B said on The Breakfast Club that she ākinda, sort ofā thought about having an abortion, but ultimately, ā[She] just didnāt want to deal with the whole abortion thing.ā Thatās completely relatable.
Nevertheless, the “Bodak Yellow” rapperĀ toldĀ The Breakfast Club that sheās ready and excited to be a mother. āYou know whatāIām a grown woman. Iām 25 years old. And itās just like, āYou know what? Iām a grown woman. Iām 25 years old. Iām gonna say this in the most humblest way ⦠Iām a schmillionaire, you know what Iām saying? And Iām prepared for thisā,ā she said.
After all, Cardi B doesnāt believe that women need to feel pressured into choosing between developing their professional career and starting a family. āIt just really bothers me and it disgusts me because I see a lot of women online like, āOh I feel sorry for you, oh your career is over,ā sheĀ noted. āAs a woman, why canāt I have both? Why do I gottaĀ choose a career orĀ a baby? Like, why canāt I have both? I want both.”
TMZ adds that 2018 is a momentous year for Cardi B. Not only will she become a mother this year and her debut studio album dropped on April 6, but sheāll also be performing at Coachella, and touring with Bruno Mars. While weāre still swiping right to win a free Cardi B concert, weāre definitely more excited to see Belcalis Almanzar (aka Cardi B) become a BA mother. (And we can’t wait to see Cardi’s baby join her and Bruno Mars on tour.)Ā
