“Distance makes the heart grow fonder” might be a cliché for some, but for one couple on Love Island USA, the sentiment is proving truer than ever. To get you caught up, the original cast of guys have gone to Casa Amor, leaving the girls in the villa. With the split, fan favorite couple Trinity and Bryce have been separated — and both have cried in confessionals about how much they miss each other.
Episode 17’s ending was truly cinematic, with Bryce having a heart-to-heart with fellow islander Sincere about his connection with Trinity. All the while, Trinity was making out with one of the new bombshells, Corey, in the photo booth. “These girls are all beautiful, they all have their own things, but it’s not her,” Bryce told Sincere.
However, in Episode 18, Trinity sat down with Corey and encouraged him to explore other girls, because her heart wasn’t truly invested in him. “I have a connection with some of these guys but they’re not who I want,” she said in a conversation with the villa girls.
In that same conversation, Trinity vulnerably explained how she was worried Bryce might find someone “more beautiful” than her at Casa, emphasizing the difficulties that come with interracial dating. Little does Trinity know, Bryce only has her on his mind: “I’m talking to girls and I just can’t stop thinking about her.”
Even though Trinity and Bryce initially opted out of their couple when bombshells Gabriel and Kayda joined in Episode 2 and were recoupled by default, it’s clear their connection has grown substantially, and is based on their shared sense of humor and love for gossip (goals, honestly). Their connection might be one of the strongest of the season — especially when compared to other pairs, like Kenzie and Corbin, who immediately forgot about each other when Casa started — and fans are losing it over their yearning.
While viewers have to wait until Friday to see if they decide to bring a bombshell back, it’s pretty obvious at this point that neither of them wants to. Their reunion on Sunday is bound to be emotional, and may even seal their fate as the winners of this season.
