Blake Lively Revealed Whether She’ll Attend This Year’s Met Gala

Blake Lively has been spotted *everywhere* recently, from hanging out in NYC with her bffs Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid to slaying her first red carpet event this year since she gave birth to her fourth child. She has definitely been making a comeback these past few weeks. But unfortunately, one event she will not be seen at this year is the 2023 Met Gala – and I’m literally shocked.

Lively attends the Met Gala regularly, and is one of the most anticipated celeb arrivals on the Met Gala stairs. She also served as co-chair with her husband, Ryan Reynolds in 2022, a gala for which she was definitely one of the best dressed. Her Statue of Liberty-inspired dress transformed on the carpet, and surprised everyone – even her husband stared at her in awe. So of course, fans were super excited to see how Lively would top that unforgettable look this year. But it seems like that won’t be happening.

On April 28, Lively confirmed to People she wouldn’t be attending the Met Gala after a reporter complimented her 2022 look. She said, “Thank you, that’s very sweet. I’ll be wearing that on my couch on Monday.” While she didn’t give a reason for why she decided not to attend, she just recently gave birth to her and Reynolds’ fourth child, which she confirmed in February. She has just started to make her first public appearances again, so it’s only fair if she’s just taking all the time she needs.

Even though some fans understand Lively’s choice to skip the Met Gala this year, others are still upset. One person tweeted a meme of Bella Hadid crying with the caption, “Girls finding out Blake Lively won’t be attending the Met Gala this year.” Another tweeted, “BLAKE LIVELY ISN’T GOING TO THE MET GALA???? THROW THE WHOLE THING AWAY.” While this person said, “Met gala without Blake lively is NOT met gala.” Some have dubbed her Met Gala royalty, saying, “Queen of Met Gala not there? We lost.” Safe to say many people are not taking the news well.

So, as fans anxiously wait for the first Monday in May to arrive, I’ll be reminiscing on past Met Gala looks, hoping that Blake Lively will decide to grace us with her presence next year.
