On Oct. 30, photos of Billie Eilish and Jesse Rutherford’s Halloween costume hit the internet, and fans were immediately worried. At a Halloween party, Eilish, 20, and Rutherford, 31, appeared to be dressed up as a baby and an old man (yeah, yikes). Rumors of the two dating first surfaced in early October, and since then, the two have been spotted kissing and holding hands. (Her Campus reached out for confirmation of their relationship but didn’t hear back.) The rumored couple has been facing some criticism for their 11-year age gap.
But not everyone is worried about the couple’s age difference, apparently. A source close to Finneas, Eilish’s older brother, told Hollywood Life on Oct. 22 that Finneas totally “approves” of Eilish’s and Rutherford’s rumored relationship. “Jesse gets along flawlessly with Finneas, who is so important to her. Finneas approves of this, as he really loves seeing his sister so happy and giddy,” the source said.
Fans, on the other hand, have been sharing their concern about Eilish and Rutherford’s rumored relationship. Some fans also claimed Rutherford has known Eilish since she was 15 (meaning, he was 26). Previously, Rutherford dated influencer Devon Lee Carlson for six years, but the two split in 2021.
Fans took to Twitter to share their concern for Eilish, as well as their distaste for their Halloween costumes. Her Campus reached out to Eilish and Rutherford’s teams for comment but didn’t hear back by the time of publication.
Eilish and Rutherford have yet to publicly address the backlash.
