Beyoncé & Megan Thee Stallion’s Friendship Timeline Includes Quite A Few Viral Moments

The Queen Bey and the Stallion sounds like a children’s book I would have devoured in one day during elementary school. The story of the musicians’ IRL friendship is equally as entertaining.

Beyoncé and Megan Thee Stallion have both been killing the music game recently. Meg teamed up with Cardi B on the Latin-inspired hit “Bongos” on Sept. 8, and unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably seen Beyoncé rocking the stage all over the world for her Renaissance Tour. Both ladies are booked and busy — but never too busy for each other.

The Houston stop of the Renaissance Tour on Sept. 23 brought Bey and Meg together again. The singers surprised their hometown with a live performance of their global quarantine hit “Savage Remix.” Megan was just as excited as the audience, jumping in a circle and screaming “I love you, Beyoncé!” on stage. Becoming friends with your idol is a dream come true, especially when your idol is one of the biggest superstars on the planet. Megan and Beyoncé’s friendship timeline proves that their friendship is the real deal.

2019: The pair meet at Bey’s New Year’s Eve party.

The friendship started at Beyoncé and Jay Z’s New Year’s Eve party on December 31, 2019. Megan recalled, “We danced all night. I was really in there cutting it up. I was like, ‘Wow, Beyoncé accepts my turn-up! She likes ‘Ratchet Megs’ and I love it!”

The star later told Variety, “In the first five minutes of the conversation, I felt like I’ve been knowing her all my life. She treated me like family, and now I feel like I am family. We talk all the time.

April 29, 2020: Megan drops a surprise remix of “Savage” featuring Beyoncé.

“Savage” is the quintessential quarantine song. Everyone and their mothers were dancing along to the track on TikTok while the world was shut down. Even people who didn’t have the app somehow learned every move (maybe that was just me). Once the Beyoncé remix slash reimagining dropped, the song — and the singers’ BFF status — went global.

In April 2023, Megan told Elle that she couldn’t believe Beyoncé had jumped on the remix. “My mind was blown. I called my granny. Me and my manager were in my living room, going crazy.” Beyoncé had one note about Megan’s new verse, though. “Beyoncé was like, ‘Could you please make your verse a little bit cleaner?’ I went in my living room, and I recorded it right then. Like, Beyoncé didn’t have to tell me twice! I sent that verse right back. But it was amazing.”

March 14, 2021: Megan and Beyoncé accept the Grammy Award for Best Rap Song.

“Savage Remix” is a rap masterpiece and pop culture moment that changed lives – it’s true, the Recording Academy said so. The track won Best Rap Song at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in March 2021, earning Meg her second Grammy of the night and putting Beyoncé in a tie for most Grammys won by a female artist (she broke the record later that night). The pair accepted the award together on stage and had the sweetest things to say about each other.

“Ever since I was little, I was like, ‘You know what? One day, I’mma grow up and I’mma be, like, the rap Beyoncé.’ That was definitely my goal,” Megan said. “I remember I went to the rodeo one year and Destiny’s Child performed and I was like, you know what? Yes, I’m about to go hard. I love her work ethic, I love the way she is, I love the way she carries herself.”

“I just want to quickly send my love to Megan,” Beyoncé responded. “I have so much respect for you and I’m honored that you asked me to be a part of this song.” Aww!

Sept. 23, 2023: Megan Makes a special guest at beyoncé Houston show.

The Houston hotties had a surprise up their sleeve for the hometown stop of Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour. Megan appeared on stage to perform “Savage Remix” live with Beyoncé for the first time ever (!!!). Bey hyped Meg up like a proud big sister. “Don’t she make you proud, Houston? She makes me proud. I love you, queen!” Beyoncé gushed.

Megan took to social media after the performance to fangirl over her idol. She captioned her TikTok, “Yall ive been ugly crying with my lace lifting all weekend lol i will never stop screaming about this moment! I have loved BEYONCE my WHOLE LIFE this means EVERYTHING TO ME! I love you BEY 💙 💙 💙 thank you for everything.”
