If you’re anything like me, you may glance up at the score once or twice during the first half of the Super Bowl, but are front row center for the always amazing annual halftime show. It’s safe to say that this year’s performer, none other than Queen B, exceeded all of our expectations with her electrifying performance.
After the lip syncing controversy surrounding her performance at this year’s inauguration, in which she admittedly used a backing track to sing the national anthem, the star set the stage for an unforgettable performance at a press conference in New Orleans a few days prior to the game when she gave a beautiful (and completely live) performance of the national anthem.
The greatness began with B’s “Love On Top,” and clad in a rather scandalous black leotard, lace skirt and boots, the singer went on to perform clips from megahits like “Crazy In Love” and “End of Time.” However, it wasn’t until the second half of the twelve minute performance that things really got crazy.
As if we weren’t awestruck enough by Beyonce’s powerful voice and unmatched booty shaking, the singer was joined by Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, the trio also know as Destiny’s Child. After performing their classic “Bootylicious” the gals went on to help B perform her hit “Single Ladies,” sending the wow factor through the roof of the Superdome.
The show ended as great as it started as Beyonce performed Halo” solo, with the same energy and stamina with which she started. While this was truly an unforgettable performance, perhaps the best part is that Bey announced her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, with the European leg beginning in April and then moving to the U.S. in late June. Check out the performance here.
