Bella Hadid & The Weeknd Are Hanging Out Because Chilling With Your Ex Is Apparently the Trend Right Now

The trend of hanging out with your ex seems to have expanded beyond Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. The Weeknd was spotted leaving ex Bella Hadid’s apartment Monday night, ELLE reports, and now I’m wondering what they’re up to.

Sel and The Weeknd broke up just last month, but even before their split, Selena was hanging out with Justin, raising questions as to whether or not they’re back together. Now, The Weeknd is causing the same confusion after being photographed leaving Bella’s apartment in New York City. The photo agency said he spent “several hours there.” Hmmm, what’s going on?

Could the couple be rekindling their romance, or are they just friends? It seems like leaving your ex’s apartment late at night is more than just a friendly thing, but that’s just me.

“Bella and Abel have been in contact since Abel and Selena split, but they are not back together,” a source told E! News. “Abel reached out to Bella asking to hang out and catch up, and she decided to see him and see where things go. She knows that if they don’t date again, they can at least be good friends.” So maybe it is just friendly.

Another source said they’re still in love, though. Because how could you not be after a serious relationship like theirs? “She still loves him but has her guard up. She never really got over him,” the source said. “She is not looking to be exclusive with him now, just to be his friend. His schedule won’t allow him to stay focused on her—she knows this from past experience. She also knows he is talking to a few girls still. She reads what is put out in the news and that affects her.” Good for her—don’t settle for anything less than what you deserve, Bel.

As for The Weeknd, he reportedly loves her, too. “He has expressed to her that he loves her still, and they will always have a real connection. He also apologized for hurting her in the past,” the source said.

So maybe their relationship is on the path to recovery and soon enough they’ll be back together. We might have to wait a little while to see what happens, but I can be patient.

You'll usually find her at a concert or cafe somewhere, which is where she spends majority of her free-time. Talking to band members after their shows is a hobby, along with thrifting & indulging in all aspects of pop culture. After college, she plans to spend more time at concerts, getting paid to write about music and bands.
