A Balancing Act

Hey collegiettes™!

Thanks to the SELF Jump Start Diet and the craziness of this semester I have learned a very important lesson; balance is key.

If you haven’t noticed already, I have had a lot on my plate this semester and juggling it all has been hard. Balancing academics, extracurricular and continuing to live a healthy lifestyle can seem daunting at times and something always seems to fall by the wayside.

What I have loved about the SELF Jump Start Diet is the emphasis on balancing healthy eating, exercise and even a little treat here and there! Though my sweet tooth or a busy schedule can sometimes tip the scales in the wrong direction, I have definitely made progress on getting my life in this area. Take today for example. I had a much needed pit sit (our term for lunch date here at Wake) with a friend today and definitely ate more than I needed to. Instead of feeling discouraged like I would have in the past, I simply made sure that I kept my dinner under control! It was a piece of cake!

So my goal for the next few weeks, as exams are inching closer and stress gets on an even higher level, is to try to the best of my ability to keep all aspects of my life in balance. Just because I am slaving away in the library does not mean that my healthy lifestyle has to be put on the back burner…and I am not going to let that happen!
