Backstreet’s Back…Again!

It’s hard to believe that the Backstreet Boys are celebrating their 20th anniversary with a new album and summer tour. For those of us who attended the Millennium tour before our 10th birthday, this is quiet a hard concept to understand.

The Backstreet Boys performed their new song “Permanent Stain” off of their album “In a World Like This” on “Good Morning America” this morning. The album will be released on June 30.  This is the “now-grown men” group’s newest album since “This is Us” in 2009.

The group hopes that the new album will top all of its others, which will be hard to do considering the “Millennium” album is one of the best-selling albums of all time, selling over 30 million copies worldwide, was nominated for five Grammy Awards, and had four top 40 sings. Max Martin, who helped produce some of the biggest hits in the past like “As Long As You Love Me “and” Quit Playing Games With My Heart” worked with the group on this album.

Howie Dorough told HuffPost, “”Some of the fans are going to hopefully be able to put it on their radio, on their CD player, or whatever the iTunes, and just you know, take a trip down memory lane with our sound as they’ve always known it as. They can listen to it and maybe get away from whatever is going on in life for an hour and just enjoy themselves with our music.”

The Backstreet Boys will start their 25-city tour that starts in Chicago on August 2 and ends in San Francisco on September 8. Tickets go on sale this Friday, and the band is giving away a free download of the single with purchase.

To the Backstreet Boys’ credit, all five original boy band members Nick Carter (33), A.J. McClean (35), Howie Dorough (39), Brian Littrell (38), and Kevin Richardson (41) are on board despite family-making, rehab, and solo careers…. looks like the Backstreet Boys are the last ones standing in the ‘NSYNC vs. Backstreet Boys battle of the 90s.
