The Backstreet Boys Are Back!

We didn’t think it could get any better after the Spice Girls were reunited in June.  But now it’s looking like the 90’s are back–larger than life.

That’s right, all five of the Backstreet Boys–Howie Dorough, 38, Brian Littrell, 37, Nick Carter, 32, AJ McLean, 34, and the newly returned Kevin Richardson, 40–are back in action, announcing plans of what is sure to be a widely anticipated 5th U.S. album. The album is set to be released next spring, marking the group’s 20th anniversary. While next spring may seem like a long wait, the boys will actually be hitting the stage even sooner, performing in NYC on August 31.

“We’re really excited — this actually is our first time in the studio together, all five of us, since 2005,” Howie Dorough says.

But why is the boy band getting back together after all this time? Fans may respond, “Why not!” but music has changed quite a bit since 2005. Will Backstreet find a place in an age of Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, and Carly Rae Jepson? Will they be bringing back their old style, belting out some newer (auto)tunes, or finding a happy middle ground?

We’ll have to wait and see, but one thing’s for sure…

Backstreet’s back, all right!

Let us know if you’re dying to hear their new album, collegiettes!
