Let’s face it: every season of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette has a Nick Viall. While Viall’s reign as the notorious Bachelor nation bad guy came to an end when Arie Luyendyk Jr. made his debut last season, we think we finally found the villain of this season’s The Bachelorette: Garrett Yrigoyen.
Honestly, we were rooting for Yrigoyen, especially after we saw some adorable photos of bachelorette Becca Kufrin and Yrigoyen, which were snapped in his hometown of Manteca, CA, according to TMZ. However, Yrigoyen allegedly has a habit of liking problematic social media content.
According to Huffington Post, the season 14 frontrunner has a lengthy Insta trail of offensive and racist likes. While HuffiPo adds that Yrigoyen has recently deleted his Instagram account entirely, several Insta-sleuthing Twitter users screenshot the receipts of his troubling likes.
As Variety notes, the user who captured Yrigoyen’s like history is actually Ashley Spivey, who was a former The Bachelor contestant on season 15. Spivey claims that Yrigoyen liked a conspiracy theory about Parkland shooting survivor and anti-gun violence activist David Hogg.

Later in Spivey’s tweet thread, she includes a photo that shows Yrigoyen now-deleted Insta handle, @garrett_yrigs12, and the photo he liked is blatantly transphobic:

The Insta post includes an image of Caitlyn Jenner on the entrance of a women’s restroom and a photo of Jenner prior to her transition on the door of the men’s restroom with the caption, “How to determine which bathroom to use in 2017.” It’s pretty clear to see how transphobic this post is, particularly since Caitlyn Jenner was Caitlyn Jenner even before her physical body started to transition.
Although the entire Twitterverse knows about Yrigoyen’s Insta likes, Cosmopolitan reports that Kufrin might not know about her potential bae’s troubling social media history. Because of the Bachelor/Bachelorette policies, contestants aren’t allowed to use their phones or social media accounts during the show (to avoid obvious spoilers).
Granted, Yrigoyen has since deleted his Instagram account, so The Bachelorette producers must have found out about his like logs and told him to shut that ish down. (Or hopefully maybe Yrigoyen isn’t a contestant on the show anymore and found out about the controversy from his own Twitter feed.)
Hopefully, Becca Kufrin didn’t give Yrigoyen the final rose.
