The Bachelorette 8: Who are Emily’s final 2 guys?

**For recaps from previous weeks, check out the Pop Campus blog!

Any way you slice it, major things were going to happen on tonight’s episode.  Emily’s decision tonight decided who would be her final 2 guys.  Both of them may potentially propose to her.  This week, post-hometown, Emily and the guys were in Curacao (which is unbelievably, wonderfully amazing looking).

Here’s a rundown of the Final Three:

Sean

The ‘perfect’ man, according to Emily.  He’s a very good-looking, southern gentleman.  He’s an amazing athlete and very confident about his feelings for Emily. Jef

Emily has had butterflies for this guy from day 1.  He’s got a little bit of an edge that Emily likes.  He’s funny.  He’s crazy about Emily and also wants to be a good role model for Ricki.

Arie

Emily and Arie’s chemistry is undeniable.  They make out constantly when they’re together.  He’s thoughtful and sensitive to Emily’s feelings.  He’s open about the fact that he’s in love with Emily.

One-On-One Date: Sean

Sean hasn’t said ‘I love you’ yet to Emily (despite the fact that only like, a month has passed since they first met).  And this makes her nervous.  To induce some professions of love, ABC sent Emily and Sean on a helicopter tour of Curacao.  A private island.

Once there, Emily commenced with her questioning.  At his hometown date, Sean’s parents told Emily that his past girlfriends were like his ‘buddies.’  Sean’s sister told Emily that he didn’t have serious relationships in the past because Sean didn’t want the girl to get too attached.  His rebuttal was that his feelings for Emily are very different than anything he’d previously experienced.

Emily was waiting for Sean to drop the ‘I love you’
. And he didn’t.  Emily’s concern began to grow but some snorkeling helped get her mind off of the issue.

Later, Emily and Sean had a lovely beachside dinner.  Emily hoped that Sean would finally be able to open up and share his feelings for her. “No one I’ve ever dated has measured up to you (Emily).”

“I’d love to be that soccer dad (to Ricki).”

Sean also shared that he had written a letter to Ricki for her to read before they met.  In short, it was very sweet and promised Ricki that he would care for her as a daughter and honor her by loving Emily always. yes”>  Wellll
. He said it.  But it was reluctant.  Emily was elated of course, but it was definitely either a nervous or reluctant declaration.

After this, Emily pulled out the infamous ‘fantasy suite invitation.’  Sean said that he would love to stay up and talk with Emily and she accepted.  For first-time   The fantasy suite can either represent the couple spending the night together or staying up and chatting together (sans camera crew).  Did they spend the night together?  There was some hot tub action but Emily called it a night early.   She said that she was a mom and staying with Sean didn’t line up with her values.  Good call, Emily!

One-On-One Date: Jef

Jef was nervous going into the date.  He knew that he wanted to be with Emily but was still conscious of the fact that 2 other guys are involved.  Their date began on a huge sailboat in the middle of the ocean (awesome).  The wind was getting in the way of their microphones a tad bit, however.  Still, we managed to learn that Jef’s family loved Emily and that his parents really want to meet her.

Right away, Jef was making it clear that Ricki was a major topic on his mind.  Props to Jef for making it clear that he was concerned for Emily and Ricki’s relationship.  He said that he looked forward to meeting Ricki to make sure that all 3 of them could work together.  Emily said that she felt Jef would make a great parent.

They swam around in the ocean and Emily said that Jef telling her ‘I love you’ gave her chills.  She is obviously head over heels for this guy and it appears to be mutual.  There was no questioning with Jef as there was with Sean.  That changed at dinner.

But Jef was doing the questioning, not Emily.

“Where would you want to live?”  Answer: Emily likes the idea of starting a whole new life with all three of them.  She would move wherever Jef was.

“You’re an amazing girl and you attract amazing guys, too.  Why hasn’t it worked out?”  Answer:  Emily was lacking something unspoken, like a spark.  She sees so many things in Jef that are perfect on paper and also things that you can’t put on paper.

Emily asked Jef this question as well.  He said that he couldn’t see the end goal with other girls.  He can see a picture-perfect end with Emily and wouldn’t change anything about getting to this point.

“Do you think I’m a good fit for her (Ricki)?  Would I be a good dad?”  Answer:  Emily thinks about this a lot.  When hanging out with Ricki, she can picture Jef there with her.

Emily presented Jef with the fantasy suite card.  Jef said that he would love to but he knew that their families and Ricki would be watching the show so he didn’t want them to stay the night together.  Emily was “so thankful” that he responded that way.  Emily said that she wanted to spend more time with him, but wouldn’t spend the night.

One-On-One Date: Arie

Emily’s date with Arie was arguably the coolest.  They went swimming with dolphins in the middle of the ocean!  Emily was a little scared and liked that Arie was protective of her while they swam.  Arie said that being around Emily was like being around your best friend at all times.

As their date went on, Emily noticed that she and Arie just kept kissing
and kissing
and kissing.  They were lying out on a boat and kissed as it sailed along.  She became concerned about offering him a fantasy suite card because they couldn’t keep their hands off of each other.  (Thank you Emily, for finally noticing what everyone has noticed so far this season) Out of the three dates, this one definitely had the least amount of talking initially.  Talk about chemistry.

At dinner, Emily wanted to figure out if her relationship with Arie was more than just chemistry.  She said that she felt close to him, but didn’t know what he does on like, “a Tuesday morning,” meaning that she doesn’t know much about his day-to-day life.  Arie was pretty surprised when he found out Emily gets up earlier than 6:30 a.m. because he gets up at 9:00 a.m. on the regular.  They also discussed where they would live together and how Ricki would fit into their relationship.

Arie really wanted to let Emily know how important being a father is to him.  Emily said that she wanted someone that would genuinely love Ricki and become a father figure to her.  Arie didn’t want to rush the ‘father figure relationship’ and said that he would want to take it slow and gradually build a relationship with Ricki.

So what happened with the fantasy suite card when it came to Arie?  Emily didn’t give it to him at all.  She said that she didn’t trust herself because “Good lord, he’s hot.” Probably another smart decision on Emily’s part.

The Rose Ceremony

This one was emotional.  Her pep talk with Chris Harrison clued us into the fact that she’s falling in love with all of them in different ways and it made it hard to say goodbye to one of them.

Each guy taped a video message for Emily to see before the ceremony.  All of them essentially regurgitated aforementioned feelings for Emily but they definitely made her decision more difficult.  So who made it to the final 2?

Jef and Arie got the roses this week.  Sean was sent home.

In the end, Emily didn’t have the chemistry or confidence in her relationship with Sean, but it definitely was an emotional parting.

What do you think of Emily’s decision this week?  Are you Team Arie or Team Jef?

Until next week, collegiettes!
