I love a good throwback to my youth. When a sorority crush party I went to offered slap bracelets as their favor, I was aghast! I had forgotten how obsessed I was with snap bracelets (and pogs, while we’re on the subject of early ’90s paraphernalia).
While my Greek-lettered slap bracelet was a superb accessory for the night, it’s not really something I’d ever wear on a regular basis — mostly because they weren’t my letters. But my fascination/obsession with slap bracelets was definitely back.
Imagine how excited I was when I found out I wasn’t the only one bringing back the slap bracelet!!!! Cloud 9 — a very mod watch company is doing the same. They created slap watch bracelets — an awesome hybrid between the two.
The watches are clunky-ish so they work well as an independent wrist accessory. Personally I like the analog watch that only has one number in it (9! Which is also my favorite number) because it is very sleek and more grown up than a digital watch. But if you like digital more, they have that option as well.
The watches come in variety of colors — so those who are digging the neon trend can totally get their fix here. I tested out the white one, but I really like the colorful ones because they make the watch stand out and look really hip! This is also a great way to add a little bit of neon to your outfit because neon can be a little overwhelmingly and too ’80s-esque if overdone.
For awhile I was kind of over watches. With my cell phone attached to me so much, I can usually check that for the time. However, when watches become more than a watch — a conversation starter, an accessory, a burst of color — their value is suddenly increased, and my interest is piqued! Plus the fact that I can slap it on provides a unique entertainment value that makes me feel like I’m in elementary school all over again (but with a far better sense of style!).
