9 Movie Character Halloween Costumes for 2015

Halloween—the only time of year when you can dress up as your favorite movie character without being judged. (That is, unless you’re participating in some sort of costume contest.) With all the amazing movies released in 2015, there’s a wide variety of sure-to-be beloved movie characters to dress up as on Halloween. And let’s not forget those classic movie costumes that never get old. We’ve collected nine options below that we think you’re going to love.

1. Scarlet Overkill from Minions

Let’s be honest, the actual minions are so last year. Step up your game as the one and only sexy villan, Scarlet Overkill. Little minions everywhere will drool over you! Plus, you probably already have the strapless red dress, black tights and black heels you need to copy Scarlet’s look. Just add her black elbow-length gloves and get a short black wig to complete the look.

2. The Plastics

On Halloween, we wear pink! If you’re going solo, Regina George will easily be the most recognizable of the Mean Girls. Flippy mini skirts and pastel cardigans—well, basically anything you could buy at Abercrombie & Fitch in the 2000s—will work best. But if you and your friends are planning a group costume, try to recreate as many characters from the film as possible. Props to whoever decides to be Damian in a blue hoodie and dark sunnies.

3. The personalities from Inside Out

We’re obsessed with the varying emotions that come into play in Inside Out. That’s why we’re not limiting our costume options to just the female characters. The outfits are simple enough to replicate with something similar in your own closet or finds from the thrift store. If you really want to impress, use body paint to get just the right tint for your chosen character, and don’t forget the wig!

4. The Guardians of the Galaxy

Not feeling the whole sexy kitten look? Go as one of Marvel’s intergallatic criminals turned heroes. For Gamora, you’ll obviously need tons of green body paint. But we have no doubt that you can pull off any of these ensembles after seeing this Star Lord costume.

5. The Barden Bellas from Pitch Perfect 2

Round up your girls for this one! Because who hasn’t dreamt of being a Barden Bella? Ditch the round one flight attendant uniforms (hello upgrade!) for the sequel’s sleeker, more modern styles. You’ll need a white tank, zipper-accented skinny jeans, a navy vest and some high-top sneaks.

6. Cher from Clueless

AS IF! Not really, though, because this nod-to-the-’90s costume is timeless. A somewhat boxy blazer with a button-up underneath, a plaid uniform skirt, knee-high socks and strappy heels will help you perfect Cher’s look. Warning: some people may mistake you for Taylor Swift.

7. Katniss Everdeen

With the final chapter in the Hunger Games saga hitting theaters in November, you’ve got one last chance to honor Katniss. This isn’t her typical warrior-esque look, but it is unexpected. What could have been her wedding dress—if her wedding hadn’t been a sham and all—is even a DIY creation.

8. Holly from Breaksfast at Tiffany’s

What a classic look. Your go-to LBD will definitely come in handy for this costume. Add flashy accessories, like pearls, a tiara and black elbow-length gloves, to emphasize the Audrey of it all.

9. The cast of Bridesmaids

For this costume, you can either recreate the exact look of these funny ladies or use that old bridesmaid dress that’s been collecting dust in your closet. See, she told you that you’d be able to wear it again.
