School is coming to a close, and summer is right around the corner! That means endless days of freedom, hanging at the pool, working at your internship, and, of course, seeing awesome movies! We’ve compiled a list of seven movies you must see this summer. Check them out!

1. If you loved Moulin Rouge,
Go see: The Great Gatsby
Release Date: May 10

If you loved crazy visuals, drama, and romance of Moulin Rouge, you should definitely go see The Great Gatsby in theaters this summer! Just as Moulin Rouge was packed with an awesome cast, so is The Great Gatsby. This book-gone-movie is bound to be a blockbuster, and we can’t wait to see it the day it comes out. The Great Gatsby follows writer Nick Caraway after he moves from the Midwest to New York City and socializes with some of American literature’s most loved characters. Plus, who doesn’t want to see Leonardo DeCaprio on the big screen? We know we do!

2. If you loved the first The Dark Knight,
Go see: Fast & Furious 6
Release Date: May 24

Some may argue that the Fast and Furious movies have gone on for too long, but we can’t wait for this new action-packed film to come out! If love movies with awesome characters, intense action, and suspenseful storylines, you’ll definitely love Fast & Furious 6. In order for the gang to clear their records, they finally have to put an end to all of their schemes that we’ve fallen in love with throughout the series.

3. If you loved I Am Legend,
Go see: After Earth
Release Date: May 31

One post-apocalyptic Will Smith movie just wasn’t enough. And if that wasn’t enough to make you want to see this movie, his co-star is his own son Jaden Smith! Talk about a powerful family. Not only is Will Smith one of the stars of the movie, but he’s also a producer and co-writer. In the movie, the father-son combo starts a new society on a planet that is lightyears away from earth.

4. If you loved The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Go see: The Kings of Summer
Release Date: May 31

Like The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Kings of Summer is an inspiring story about teenagers who are growing up and dealing with life’s challenges. The main character, Joe Toy, gets frustrated with his single father’s attempt to micromanage his life and escapes to the woods with his best friend. This movie is a tale of nature, independence, and mystery, and it’s a must-see for all summer moviegoers who love coming-of-age tales.

5. If you loved Finding Nemo,
Go see: Monsters University
Release Date: June 21

Let’s face it: We couldn’t be more excited about another animated movie coming out. We couldn’t get enough of Mike and Sulley in 2001, so we’re so excited to hear that they’re making a comeback in 2013! Monsters University shows that the inseparable pair wasn’t always that way: In fact, when the two first met in college, they couldn’t stand each other! We can’t wait to travel through the monstrous journey with them this summer.

6. If you loved Happy Feet,
Go see: Despicable Me 2
Release Date: July 3

If you loved the fun and cute camaraderie in Happy Feet, you’re going to love Despicable Me 2! In this sequel, Gru is recruited to help deal with a powerful new super criminal, and we’re eager to see these guys battle it out. Despicable Me 2 is going to be a blockbuster for all ages this summer.\

7. If you loved The Benchwarmers,
Go see: Grown Ups 2
Release Date: July 12

The Benchwarmers was packed with great humor and a group of great characters, and so is Grown Ups 2! Lenny (Adam Sandler’s character) moves his family back to his hometown only to find out that it’s filled with crazy bus drivers, insane bullies, and party crashers. It sounds like a party to us, and we can’t wait to be a part of it!
