On March 24, The Catch, a drama-thriller series co-created by Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers, premiered on ABC. It has quickly become a hit and is finding a comfortable spot among our many other favorite Shondaland creations. The show follows private investigator Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos) who exposes fraud for a living in L.A., and without giving too much away, she discovers she had been conned by someone very close to her whom she never would have suspected. Although it is only on its fifth episode, there is already plenty of drama to keep you fully engaged as a viewer, and if you haven’t checked it out yet, The Catch is a show you’ll definitely want to catch up on.
- This show has an original concept and is refreshing to watch, plus you’ll quickly get caught up in the characters’ lives. Who knows, once you’re a few episodes in, you might feel like a seasoned detective ready to begin some investigating of your own.
- Each character has so many layers that you’ll be rooting for them more and more every episode, especially Mireille Enos’s Alice.
- Every episode presents a new case to be investigated by Alice and her team. But the writing is so expertly done that it doesn’t undervalue the smarts of the audience and allows the viewer to piece together certain things along with the characters.
- To the same effect, there is always the expectation that there will be new drama and more developments that will further the overarching plot.
- The show sports an amazing cast, led by Mireille Enos, who is no stranger to crime, drama or suspense coming off of her cult hit The Killing.
- The creators and writers have created a show revolving around a familiar trope—a character unsuspecting of the sexy imposter who lingers all too closely—and have successfully spun it on its head.
- Like every other Shondaland drama, this show makes a point of bringing in outstanding actors to join the cast as the season progresses. Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) is already slated to join the cast as a recurring character.
Catch the next episode of The Catch on ABC tonight at 10 p.m. EST.
