Social media and technology puts fashion at the college girl’s fingertips. Rather than forking over $4 for Vogue, you can gain access to the latest and greatest in fashion just by keeping your finger on the social media pulse of designers, editors, and models.
Fashion and social media go together like peanut butter and jelly. Some of the biggest names in fashion have hundreds of thousands of followers on Facebook and Twitter, which is why Style Coalition celebrated the union of the two industries last night with the third annual Fashion 2.0 Awards. The award ceremony focused on highlighting online brands in fashion who are using social media and branding in particularly innovative ways.
Style Coalition’s group of fashion bloggers (which included Gala Darling – she’s incredible!) presented awards to winners chosen through online voting. Here are the night’s big winners!

The night’s major highlight was the keynote address by legendary fashion designer Norma Kamali. A fashion powerhouse since the 1960s, she explained how she’s harbored a fascination with technology since she used an early model of a computer at an office job in the mid-sixties. She’s been at the forefront of fashion technology ever since.
“It’s no longer about innovative fashion, but about how we tell the story through social media and technology,” she says.
