I was recently contacted by ebay and asked if I would try out and review their new ebay apps as well as some other related shopping apps.
All of these are free iphone and ipod apps – kind of the best part.
Here were my thoughts:
1. RedLaser app: With this app, you just use the camera on your phone to scan the barcode of an item, it then pulls up all of the local and online stores where you can purchase the item, including pricing information. To test it out, I scanned the Yankee Candle that I have sitting on my desk. It instantly pulled up “Farmers Market Yankee Candle 3.7 oz” and told me all of the places where I could find it. I found out I could save a lot of money by buying it from GrandmasGiftware.com for $8.99. If I went to Linens ‘n Things the exact same candle would be $17.19! Crazy! I’m literally going to scan everything from now on before I buy it! Get this app right now!

2. eBay app: When I tried to use the barcode scanner it wouldn’t work for me so that was a little disappointing. When I tried keyword searching, I typed in “Chanel” and “Authentic Chanel Handbag” came up as the first suggestion. The app works just like ebay on your computer – complete with secure ebay user sign in. This is a great app to download for all of you avid ebay shoppers out there!

3. eBay Fashion app: The ebay Fashion app gives you access to the eBay Fashion Vault: eBay’s version of Gilt Groupe, Rue Lala, or other online sample sales. Today’s Fashion Vault sale is 60% off BCBGeneration shoes – not bad! The photo quality was excellent and the app was really easy to navigate.

4. Half.com app: This is the perfect app for those of you who want to procrastinate by shopping for your books while in class or who want to order your textbooks on the go! I looked up one of my new faves, The Go-Getter Girl’s Guide, and the Half.com app found it for $2.93!

5. StubHub app: This is a great app for ordering tickets to upcoming sports events and concerts. Within seconds of opening the app, I learned that on December 9th, Justin Bieber will be playing at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH and the Holiday Pops concert will be at Boston Symphony Hall and on December 10th the Radio City Christmas Spectacular will be at the Wang Theater in Boston. Once you click on an event you want to go to (I clicked Bieber – obviously), you can select how many tickets you want to find, and can set your price range using a really cool sliding price marker. Very easy to use and exceptionally informative for those of you looking to be entertained!

6. PayPal app: The coolest thing about this app is that you can split the check at your favorite restaurants when going out with friends by actually transferring funds to them if they pick up the entire bill. Now that’s smart!
Enjoy!
