As you may (or may not) know, Mother’s Day is May 9th. That’s right, there is only a short time left to get something for your mother and send it home!
This Mother’s Day, I want to suggest that you donate to Circle of Women in honor of your mother. After you make your donation, Circle of Women will send her a card notifying her of your donation.
Circle of Women is an organization that supports women’s education in developing countries. In 2009, Circle of Women opened Project Wonkhai in Afghanistan, a secondary school for 1200 girls, and is now beginning construction at Keiri Reki, a girls’ school in Pakistan. Claire Richard, a dear friend of mine and a fellow Harvard senior as well as one of the Circle of Women founders, has been featured in HC twice: once for an inner beauty article for Her Campus Harvard, and once in our article on Student Philanthropy.
This year, Circle of Women is offering five gift options that support different aspects of our school:
1) $18 to cover a girl’s tuition for a year
2) $36 to cover a girl’s tuition for two years
3) $60 to cover drinking water for a month
4) $100 to sponsor a computer teacher’s salary for a month
5) $150 to contribute towards construction
In exchange for all donations, Circle of Women will send a personalized card to your mother/grandmother/aunt/etc acknowledging your donation in her honor.
For donations of $150, your designated recipient will also receive a Mother’s Day Basket, complete with a set of Circle of Women thank you cards, delicious cookies, and an official Circle of Women necklace. The Circle of Women necklaces were created exclusively for our cause by designer Joan Hornig and would be a very special addition to anyone’s jewelry box.
This is a simple and easy, but extremely meaningful way to show your appreciation for your mother on Mother’s Day!
Order by May 4th to guarantee delivery by Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 9th.
