Windsor, Annie and I founded Her Campus with the mission of creating an online magazine that would have both national and local content for college women, enabling college women to start their own magazines on campus, like the one we had run at Harvard before starting HC.
Since we launched Her Campus in September 2009, we’ve grown from one campus branch (at Harvard) to over 150 campus branches at colleges all across the country, where we have a team of amazing women producing content for their college’s section on the site and honing their marketing and publicity skills on campus (check them all out by scrolling over the My Campus tab at the top of the screen).

Another huge part of our mission is serving as a career launching point for these women – the nation’s top student journalists – and we are thrilled at how we have been able to do this so far. Since joining the Her Campus team, our writers have been offered jobs and internships at Glamour, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Seventeen, Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, People magazine, W magazine, Teen Vogue, InStyle, Lucky, O magazine, MTV, The Washington Post, and Women’s Wear Daily, among others.
Now we’re looking to expand even further and have even more college women start branches of Her Campus at their schools! We are accepting applications from now through this Sunday, July 24, for students to apply to start a branch of Her Campus at their college this fall. If you’re interested in journalism, media, blogging, marketing, publicity, management, entrepreneurship – this might be the perfect opportunity for you.
