If you’ve read any of my recent Founders’ Blog Posts (traveling to Washington, the Imagine Cup, and Anthony Salcito), you know that I was in Washington this weekend reporting on the US Finals for the Imagine Cup 2010. Specifically, I was there to check out the two all-female teams that made it into the top four in the software design category (female techies are awesome – just look at Annie!).
While there, I met Kelly Sutton the founder of Hack College. He was awesome and we had a great time nerding (like the way I just used nerd as a verb?) out about blogging, digital media, and writing for a college audience. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any pictures together but Kelly was able to snap a fun picture of me in front of the original New York Times newsdesk!
Check it out:
The Imagine Cup was held at the Newseum, a museum in D.C. that is run by all of the major news corporations. Because of this, the table in the press room was the original New York Times newsdesk. I was so pumped.
Here is Team Blob being interviewed by a camera crew at the showcase. I’m sure that they felt like rockstars.
:)
Here I am with one of the high school teams that made it to nationals for computer game design. These guys were really sweet and tried to teach me how to play their game, which focused on teaching kids how to recycle (I failed miserably – computer gaming isn’t really my thing).
:)
Here is a picture I snapped of James Cameron (yes – James Cameron and yes- I was that close to him!) talking to Anthony Salcito on the showcase floor. He toured the showcase and talked to a lot of students about their projects before giving the keynote address that afternoon. He was incredibly friendly and was genuinely interested in what the students had put together.
And a fun slideshow!
