On our second day in NYC last week, we hosted a lunch for this year’s ASME interns, with generous donations from Buttercup Bake Shop and Max Brenner Chocolate in NYC!
The ASME (American Society of Magazine Editors) internship program is the top magazine internship program in the country, selecting 25-30 top college journalists nationwide who then each get placed in an editorial internship at a different magazine for the summer. Each week, a different magazine or speaker hosts a lunch for all of the interns to teach them about the industry. I was an ASME intern at SELF when I was in college, and it was an absolutely incredible experience.
We were thrilled to be able to host a lunch for the ASME interns this year, 5 of whom are already on the Her Campus Team! Shout-outs to Contributing Writer Katie Sanders, Life Editor Amanda First, UCSB Campus Correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister, Wake Forest Campus Correspondent Hannah Kay Hunt, and former Indiana Campus Correspondent Danielle Paquette!

The Buttercup Bake Shop cupcakes were SO YUMMY. I personally ate a red velvet cupcake as well as a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting. So good!!! Don’t you want one right now?
Max Brenner donated HUGE cookies for the lunch, which were AMAZING. I am especially pumped because Max Brenner recently opened a store in Boston, and I’ll be heading there next week with my mom for her birthday (we are both huge chocaholics).
Here we are speaking at the lunch! We talked about how HC got its start, how we’ve grown, and what we’ve learned along the way, among other things!
Afterwards we made sure to take a pic with the HC/ASME girls! Here we all are.
