One of my favorite graduation presents was a custom-made wax stamp with the Her Campus logo on it. It’s the kind of thing that you use to seal envelopes to important people if you want to look particulary fancy.
I love adding extra (albeit unnecessary) embellishments to almost everything so this was the perfect gift for me! We decided to test it out today in the Her Campus office. None of us being smokers (grossss), we borrowed a lighter from a guy who works in the office next to ours. We used the wax stamp and it worked perfectly! Check it out:
Somehow, in the midst of melting the wax, I managed to break the lighter that we borrowed. Don’t ask me how – it was not broken when we started using it and then we were done, we looked down and the lighter was in 3 pieces…
Then, to top it all off, I dropped a TINY little spring from the lighter on the floor. I lay down on the floor to try to find it and wound up looking for it for a good 5 minutes.
Unfortunately, I could neither find the spring nor fix the lighter. The fiasco ended with a trip to 7-11 to pick up a replacement lighter for our neighbor.
Moral of this story: Wax stamps are cute and lighters suck and are overly fragile.
