Not all guys are assholes.

Madison surveyed, studied and stalked over a thousand guys in ten cities to get to the bottom of their real feelings (yes, they have those!) on sex, dating and relationships, and what she found may surprise you.
Â
For instance, 99 percent of the men she interviewed actually want a relationship. They aren’t controlled by their penises and aren’t motivated purely by sex when it comes to pursuing a girl. Not all of them cheat and, more often than not, there is a logical explanation to their behavior. As one man put it: women “create a market” for assholes, and they are fulfilling the expectations that women put out there for them. If we are expecting assholey behavior, well, that’s what we’re going to get.Â
Â
Madison’s book is more than just a tell-all behind the actions of men in dating and hookup situations. It is a reminder to every woman that ultimately, we are responsible for our own happiness. If you are dating someone who does not make you happy, walk away. If you are sleeping with a man in the hope of it becoming more, stop seeing him. If you are in a relationship where feelings of unease and distrust prevail, break up with him.
Â
Madison has effectively debunked every popular myth about males we choose to blindly believe instead of question. “Guys aren’t assholes,” she writes. “Just like girls aren’t crazy. And even though we’ve been led to believe men and women are so fundamentally different and riddled with incompatibilities, that’s just not true.”
Â
It may not be what you want to hear, but it’s the truth. And you know what they say, the truth will set you free…of the assholes, that is.
