One of the things we love most about Her Campus is the incredible community of collegiettes that we’ve been able to bring together. You – about 1 million of you to be exact – come together every day (and sometimes more!) to read and comment on articles written by your fellow collegiettes, to send us feedback on what you want more of from HC, to submit your questions to be answered by our Real Live College Guys, to submit op-eds through our Be in HC section, to find jobs and internships to apply for, and to interact with us on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest… (you get it) and more.
I am thrilled to announce the latest addition to this community, with today’s launch of our new Her Story section–a section devoted to sharing the incredible, empowering, sometimes shocking, inspiring, and even frightening stories of real collegiettes. Every Sunday at 7pm EST, we’ll share a new Her Story that is a firsthand account from a real collegiette about an experience she went through. Sometimes the writer’s name will accompany the story, and sometimes it will not, to enable her to share with us her story to the fullest extent without any concerns about privacy.
We launch the section with the inspiring story of a collegiette who paid her own way through college, breaking through countless obstacles on her journey to a diploma. It is an incredible story and piece that I find personally empowering. You can check back every Sunday in the coming weeks to hear from collegiettes who survived alcohol poisoning, took her landlord to court and won, hasn’t had her first kiss at the age of 21, got married in college, had an abortion in college, came out in college, and many more.
Interested in sharing your own story on Her Campus in a Her Story piece? Get in touch with us here.
I am so proud to share the amazing stories from our community of collegiettes, which serve to teach, inspire, and inform us all. I hope you’ll read the first Her Story and check back every Sunday night to read another.
HC Love,
Stephanie Kaplan, Editor-in-Chief
