I’ve determined that everything in Taiwan is cute…from the design of basics like pens and cosmetics to kiddish animations teaching safety in the subway, to the bizarre but undeniably adorable “Damper baby” mascot of Taipei 101 (one of the world’s tallest skyscrapers), to the popular beauty aesthetic of “cute” followed by many girls in Taiwan.
Here are a couple things that I saw or bought from Taiwan on my recent vacation trip there! See the cuteness??
Cute pens and pencils (which, by the way, were only about 30 cents each). Writing with style is so in!
Cute cakes decorated with what I like to think are the Taiwanese equivalent of Peeps.
Cute stationery!
Cute jewelry – sold everywhere!
Cute packaging! This is for a kiwi facial mask.
Cute shoes. Taiwan is smitten with cute flats rendered in a variety of pastel colors, with plenty of bows and bling. These are so pervasive, a pair like the ones below go for only about $7!
Cute index cards. None of that lined paper nonsense! These have full color illustrations :)
Cute babies! This is my niece Kelly! She loves her Louis Vuitton real early…haha! (By the way, the Taiwanese also LOVE designer brands…every single mall is a full blown high-end shopping experience and you can bet it has a Chanel, Dior, Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana, you name it. It’s pretty wild!)
If you, like me, have an addictive obsession with the cute, you need to visit Taiwan!! I can’t wait to go back!
