These Brands Are Releasing Foundation Shades to Fit More Skin Tones in 2017

The days of mixing multiple foundation shades to match your skin tone are over! According to Bustle, many of our favorite brands are expanding their product lines throughout 2017 to include a wide range of hues that will allow users to narrow their shade down to one product. By diversifying their foundation lines, the companies are becoming much more inclusive–which is a win in my book!

Some of the expanding lines listed were Dior’s Diorskin Forever Foundation ($50), Nyx Cosmetics’ Total Control Drop Foundation ($14), Lancome’s Teint Idole Ultra 24/7 Long Wear Foundation ($47) and Surratt Beauty’s Surreal Real Skin Foundation ($67). Each of these will include several light shades and multiple dark shades, and will hopefully allow for an easier match for everyone.

Other popular brands have formulated additional shades for their lines as well, including Too Faced’s Born This Way Foundation ($39), which has recently added six new shades. Maybelline has also been amping up its foundation lines by creating several foundations to accommodate different skin types and shades.

The diverse makeup movement has been evident in more than just a wider variety of available products, but in beauty campaigns as well. CoverGirl has been introducing brand ambassadors that are quite different from anything we’ve ever seen before. Some of their 2016 advertisements included photos of Nura Afia wearing a hijab and featured James Charles, the first male CoverGirl.

With the makeup world quickly diversifying its products, I’m excited to see the amount of inclusivity 2017 will bring us. At least there was some progress this year.
