Why Is Everyone Talking About Hyaluronic Acid? Here’s the Deal with This Skin Hydrator

When making skincare purchases, it’s easy to go straight for the products that have cute packaging or that are hyped up on Instagram every day. However, it’s important to know about the different ingredients inside the products, so you know the purchase is right for your skin.

One popular ingredient right now is hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is naturally produced by your body, but the ingredient is so crucial to products because it’s pretty good for any skin type. Why is this so important to consider if it’s already in our bodies, you may ask? Well, the hyaluronic acid content in your skin actually decreases over time. This can be due to exposure to UV rays from the sun, pollution, smoke — all that icky stuff. But by using products with hyaluronic acid in the formula, you can give your face extra amounts of the substance for healthier skin.

The benefits? Hyaluronic acid’s main purpose is to increase the moisture in your skin. The whole reason why skin is moisturized is because it has a lot of water content. This acid will retain moisture on the surface of your skin and make sure water isn’t being evaporated from the skin too quickly, so your face will always be looking plump and youthful. It can also help with dry skin, redness, and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

As young adults, we need to start taking care of our skin, sooner rather than later. Having a bouncy look is everything, and hyaluronic acid helps us achieve just that. Pretty convenient, if you ask me!
