#ManiMonday Sorority Edition: Kappa Alpha Theta

Last week, you saw how to do your own Delta Gamma nail art. This time, I’m showing you an easy and cute mani for all you Kappa Alpha Theta girls!

Theta’s colors are black and gold, so I used Sally Hansen Black Out ($2.86) and Nina Big Spender ($3.99). You’ll also need a wedge makeup sponge ($1.99), a toothpick and a paper plate.

Start out by creating the base for your manicure. Paint your ring finger with gold polish and the rest of your nails with black.

Next we’re going to create an ombre effect so that our nails fade from black to gold. To do this paint a line of black and gold polish right next to each other on the paper plate, so that the lines touch. Dip your makeup sponge into the paint like I did below.

Gently stamp the sponge onto your nail. To create a better ombré move the sponge slightly towards the tip of your nail and then slightly toward the cuticle, alternating a tiny bit each time you stamp. This will improve the gradient effect so a harsh line isn’t separating the colors.

Do this on the remaining nails, skipping your ring finger. Don’t worry if your nails and fingers look like mine do—the mess is hard to prevent. You can try to avoid getting the polish on your skin by taking small pieces of tape and placing them on the skin around the nails before starting the ombré, but personally I find that too time-consuming!

Create a kite on your ring finger using the black polish and a toothpick. Draw a small diamond, fill it in, and create the kite’s tail.

To clean up the maniucre take a cotton swab and dip it in nail polish remover. Carfeully wipe away the polish around your nails.

Top off your mani with a clear topcoat, as always, for long-lasting color and shine. This will also help smooth the ombré and blend the colors together.

Enjoy your manicure, Theta ladies! Be sure to check back next week for our next sorority nail art installment!
