Beauty Trends We Hope We Won’t See in 2015

With every new year, we welcome new trends—the good, the bad, and the just plain ugly. Trends come and go, but some of the things we’ve seen this year just need to go completely.

So it’s about that time of 2014 to look back and ask: “What were we thinking?!” But then we learn from our mistakes, and hopefully become better people. Let’s make it a resolution to retire these looks and try new things in the new year.

Overdrawn Lips

Ever since Kylie Jenner’s lips mysteriously got bigger (and bigger, and bigger…), it seems every girl wants to know the trick. And we don’t blame you – because when done right, it looks fabulous. We’re all for getting our lips at their fullest potential, but we think we should retire this overzealous lip look for 2015.

Exaggerated Eyebrows

Look, we get it. Eyebrows are so important. And that’s why you need to be kinder to yours. Get your brows on fleek (as we said in 2014) with our go-to guide for great eyebrows. Let’s try to embrace our natural shape and color—or at least something relatively close to it—in 2015.

Bleached Brows

All we ask is…why? It seemed that there could be no happy medium this year. We’d rather see you with those Sharpie-looking brows than none at all. Seriously, we never want to see this again. This is literally not flattering on anyone. Please do not try this at home.

Grey Hair

Yeah, it does look super unique and edgy. But we think you should embrace your youthful and luscious locks while you still can. You’ll have plenty of time to work that gray when you’re older. (And you won’t even have to touch up those roots!)

Improper Contouring

We all want that runway look, believe us. But this is one of those things that could get real messy real fast if you don’t know what you’re doing. We’ve seen one too many mishaps this year when the contour craze got too real.

We’re not saying don’t contour, because it certainly does wonders for our faces. But maybe we should do our research, pick the right products for ourselves, and practice a bit over winter break.

Super Slicked-Back Hair

So you saw it on the red carpet and the runway, but the truth is—this look most likely isn’t doing you any favors. It screams: “I just got out of the shower, probably.” We’re just not a fan of this one.

As our beauty year in review comes to a close, we can only hope we see better trends next year. We couldn’t be more excited to see the fabulous looks 2015 brings us!
