Hey! My name is Zara. I’m a fourth-year university student at the University of Toronto, majoring in English with a specialization in Literature. Outside of my studies, I keep myself occupied with a part-time job as a pharmacy assistant. I am also an aspiring law student!
I’m an incredibly passionate fiction writer who loves exploring dystopian themes and futuristic settings. I’m particularly interested in imagining how societies might change under unfamiliar political, environmental and technological conditions. When I’m not writing original works, I love dabbling in fanfiction, as I’m a huge nerd who enjoys exploring the worlds and characters of stories I adore.
I also have a deep affinity for sociological discussions surrounding the intersections of culture and climate, especially the ways societies respond to environmental and political change. I’m fascinated by how climate change shapes our understanding of the future and exposes inequalities within communities. I enjoy thinking about how storytelling can help us talk about these issues, especially by using our imaginations.
During more lax days, I often pass the time playing a wide variety of video games. I also collect different types of physical media and like tinkering with used handheld consoles to give them a second life. Overall, I’m a big homebody who thoroughly enjoys reading and writing!
