Sophie Thompson is a first-year student at the University of St Andrews in the class of 2029, where she is pursuing her degree in English and International Relations. She has also been an active voice in her high school speech and debate team, sharpening her skills in persuasive communication and critical thinking.
Outside the classroom, Sophie is a leader and creator. She earned her Girl Scout Gold Award by promoting sun safety and building a shade structure at a local camp, a project that blended service, advocacy, and hands-on problem solving. She has also spent years in the performing arts, from choir to theater, culminating in a memorable performance on Broadway’s Gershwin stage.
When she’s not writing or studying, Sophie can usually be found curled up with a book, indulging in her love of fantasy worlds like Harry Potter and Throne of Glass. She also enjoys discovering new cafés, diving into history and art museums, and exploring the town of her new university. Sophie is excited to share her voice with the Her Campus community and connect with readers who, like her, believe in the impact of words.
