Hello! My name is Sophie, and I am a Sophomore at the University of Michigan, studying Communications & Media with a possible double major in Psychology/Sociology. My writing niche typically lies in social media and general internet trends that influence societal standards, culture, and development on young minds. I think that social media is a forever growing factor in our lives, and I’m incredibly interested in analyzing how we’re adapting to it!
I'm from Kalamazoo, MI, about an hour and a half from campus here in Ann Arbor, and even though I've LOVED my upbringing in Michigan, I'm definitely looking to leave the state by the time I graduate! I love the idea of living the city life, so I'm naturally drawn to big cities like Chicago, NYC, or Boston. But, I also want to experience living abroad for a period of my life; a few dream abroad countries of mine would be Spain, Vietnam, South Korea, and Italy.
Some personal interests of mine include watching movies–my favorite genre, by far, are psychological thrillers–going on walks, getting coffee with friends, shopping, and doing yoga! And whenever I'm back home, I LOVE spending time with my golden retriever named Rue!
I'm beyond enthused to be writing for Her Campus. I can't see what the future holds being apart of this awesome group of women!
