Sofía Isabel De Jesús Ortiz is a writer for the Her Campus UPR chapter and a student at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. With a double major in Journalism and Comparative Literature, Sofía writes about lifestyle, news, entertainment, and culture with an interdisciplinary approach and a desire to connect with others through her creative expression.
Beyond Her Campus, Sofía wants to become a journalist and maybe even get a master’s degree before eventually studying to become a lawyer. For now, she is well on her way to graduating from her bachelor’s degree. She has published a couple of poems and news articles across different local Puerto Rican media, and has interned at the Caguas Municipal Women’s Office, where she was mentored by feminist lawyers, psychologists, and counselors.
When she’s not deep cleaning her apartment for the third time in a week, Sofía loves to read dystopian fiction, travel to foreign places, de-stress by making pottery, rewatching her comfort movies, and always, always, always, dress true to her style. She wants, more than anything, for her work to resonate with students, especially the undergraduate girlies.
