My name is Shaniya Bennett, and I am a junior at Longwood University majoring in communications with a concentration in public relations and minoring in photography. Photography became a passion because capturing meaningful moments has always mattered to me, especially since photos played an important role in my family growing up, and to this day, we still look back on the images we take. Throughout my time at Longwood, I have strengthened my skills in photography, digital editing, and journalism-based writing. I am also part of Her Campus, a women’s blog focused on the experiences of college women, where my involvement in the social media and event planning teams has allowed me to expand my abilities in both areas. These experiences have shaped my professional goal of working in event planning or social media. Outside of academics and extracurriculars, cooking and reading provide a calming balance in my daily routine.
