Shanaika Ratreja is an undergraduate student at FLAME University, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Public Policy. She is particularly interested in understanding how people and society behave through an economic lens, and how the choices we make shape the world around us. But if there is one thing that has always followed her around, regardless of what she happens to be studying or working on, it is writing.
She has always loved words and the strange little worlds they can create. Sometimes writing is how she makes sense of a thought, sometimes it is simply a place to put all the things that are running around in her head. She loves turning ordinary moments into stories, playing with ideas, and writing things down before they disappear. This brings her to one of her biggest achievements, publishing her first book, All Over The Place, and finally being able to call herself an author.
When she is not writing, her interests tend to wander in all sorts of directions. She loves fashion, getting lost in a good romance novel, and spending far too much time curating recipes before eventually making them in her kitchen. She is drawn to anything that lets her be a little creative, whether that means putting together an outfit, trying something new, or following a random idea simply because it caught her attention. She thinks life is fun when there is always something new to be curious about.
Being a writer gives her the freedom to embrace all these different sides of herself without having to choose between them. She can be analytical and creative, organised and chaotic, practical and hopelessly romantic. She can spend one part of her day thinking about economics and another writing poetry. There is room for all of it, and she likes that her interests do not always follow a straight line. If that makes her a little all over the place, she rather likes it that way.
