Savannah Amos

App State '28

Helo! My name is Savannah Amos and I am a rising sophomore at Appalachian State University. I am majoring in Digital Journalism and minoring in Film Studies. I have loved writing ever since I was a child, often writing snippets of fiction, journaling in diaries, taking notes on things and people around me, indulging in opportunities to learn from esteemed writers, and taking classes throughout middle and high school to get me to where I am today!

I have always been extremely dedicated to writing and reporting. I was fascinated with it at the ripe age of 9, serving as a 'reporter' for my elementary school's morning news. I took a yearbook and photography class in middle school, where I began to learn the photo and visual aspects of journalism, which inspired me to take it more seriously. In high school, I took multiple AP English courses to better my writing, as well as a public speaking course and two creative writing courses. During my freshman year of college, I took one communication class, one public speaking class, and one journalism class. I am scheduled for four more in the upcoming semester!

I spend a lot of my time reading and watching TV shows/films (hence the film minor). I feel as if some of the best lessons I've learned have come from the media I have consumed. As a college student, it becomes difficult to prioritize hobbies and interests. However, I am fortunate enough to learn more about my own interests every time I step into a classroom. I also continue to immerse myself in the media by listening to music, watching multiple movies a week, reading iconic novels, and keeping up with the world news.

I would love to be apart of the HerCampus team, not only because it would give me the opportunity to get some hands-on experience, but also because I could surround myself with likeminded people who share my interests and passions--feminism and media!
