Saf Costa is a writer and student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst studying Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Neuroscience. She loves love poetry and personal essays that feel lyrical but grounded — writing that can hold both tenderness and truth on the same page.
Saf has been writing for years, and she attended nationals for the Scholastic Writing Awards her senior year of high school which shaped the way she approaches storytelling now: with precision, voice, and a belief that language can make people feel less alone.
Academically, Saf hopes to become a neurosurgeon with a focus on brain disorders and addiction. She’s especially interested in how biology shapes behavior, how the nervous system learns safety, and why certain experiences can change a person from the inside out. Through her writing, she aims to bring attention to the science behind everyday human experiences.
In her free time, Saf can be found writing in her journal or notes app, playing with her leopard gecko, or baking for her friends and family.
