Hi! I’m Phoebe, a freshman at Brown University from Darien, Connecticut. I graduated from Greens Farms Academy in Westport, where I became deeply involved in advocacy and service work. During high school, I worked with the Rowan Center, a nonprofit that provides free support and advocacy for survivors of sexual assault in Fairfield County. I served on the Teen Council board, led the Rowan Center club at my school, and participated in schoolwide panel discussions focused on education and awareness.
Through my school, I also became involved with Komera, an organization dedicated to advancing girls’ education in Rwanda in the aftermath of the genocide. I eventually spearheaded a fundraising and advocacy campaign that led to a student trip to Rwanda, where we visited Komera’s headquarters and met the scholars we helped support last summer. It was an experience that has deeply shaped my global perspective.
In high school, I was a rower and served as team captain, and during my senior year, we won Nationals. I rowed on Brown’s Crew team during my first semester, but due to medical concerns, I’m currently taking leave from the team and am excited to find new ways to connect with the Brown community.
I’m passionate about culture and the intersection of media, trends, and lifestyle, particularly how international influences shape American fashion, food, and social norms. I’ve always loved travel and global style, and my time working as a waitress at a French crêperie, which was both laid-back and fast-paced, only deepened my fascination with cultural exchange.
I’m also an avid reader and film lover, with a particular interest in film adaptations of novels. As a prospective IAPA and English concentrator, I’m always looking for ways to blend international culture with literature. Through writing for Her Campus, I hope to explore these passions while highlighting advocacy, service, and all things books.
