Hi! I'm Niyah Newell, a Mechanical Engineering student at UConn and part-time Manufacturing Engineer. Though my background is mainly in STEM, I love writing and the performing arts. I love to write philosophical pieces and journal entries. I am in the process of learning to do more of what I love outside of STEM and undoing the roots of work-acholic-ism within me.
My passion for writing didn't always exist; back in middle school my mom had to force me to write anything, even my own name. I like to say that I learned to love writing. Through my mom's desire to strengthen my education, I was assigned weekly news reports, yearly research projects, and countless handwriting papers on top of my normal homework (especially when I got in trouble! Fact: I've written "I will not" over 5000 times in this life).
Outside of school, work, and research, I love to play tennis, read thrillers, dance, go to theaters for the performing arts, travel, try new things, and shop! My favorite movie is Soul, and my favorite music artist is Samm Henshaw.
