Hello, my name is Mya Hubbard. I am a new member of Howard University’s Her Campus chapter events Team, where I help organize and put together various events. We brainstorm different events to help empower the young women. In addition, I am a part of the ASL club here at Howard University. I also spent this past summer with HUSSA (Howard University Summer Study Abroad), where I studied Swahili in Kenya.
In my spare time, I like to partake in community service opportunities and give back to my community. While I have taken part in a number of different community service projects in the past, the one that has had the greatest impact on me has been Operation Jesus, which involves handing out bags and coats to the houseless on Christmas morning. Having this experience has had a huge impact on my view of others as well as the way I communicate with others.
In my free time, I enjoy catching up on the latest shows, like Scandal. I also enjoy adventures, traveling to new places, and seeing new things. One thing I have always felt passionate about is helping young African Americans advance. I plan to pursue a career in the legal field where I can become a voice for those without one. I plan to educate future generations on their rights, as well as the law. I want to show young children that there is no limit to what they can do.
