Maryam Parkar

Maryam is a writer at the Her Campus Carleton chapter. She writes pieces about anything and everything she’s passionate about—mental health, self-love, fashion, film, music, literature and all things in between.

Beyond Her Campus, Maryam is a first-year Bachelor of Journalism student at Carleton University. Maryam’s first experiences in lifestyle writing and blogging came from a “niche meme” Instagram profile (@blossomhoneyy) that she started at age 13. Over a couple of years, she grew a large audience of around 15 000 followers, who were deeply invested in her mood boards, film/book reviews, style inspiration and uplifting content. While the account remains inactive today, Maryam credits her deep interest and passion for this field to the micro-influencer ambitions she held in her early teens. Her future pursuits in journalism follow the path she has been paving for years.

On an average day, you’ll find Maryam paying for overpriced coffee and blasting music in her headphones. She loves her tunes, movies and books. She also—of course—loves to write. You can always count on her to have a pen. She talks a lot and laughs very loudly with no regrets. Maryam is always focused on bettering herself, learning more about the world and spreading love wherever she goes.
