Hi! My name is Lyiesha Thompson, and I’m a student at Grand Canyon University, majoring in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Social Media. As an older sister and someone who has always loved working with children, teaching is more than just a career path; it’s something I feel called to do. I’m passionate about helping kids grow, learn, and feel seen, and I hope to bring that same nurturing energy to my Her Campus chapter. As President, my goal is to be a guiding figure and a safe space for others, especially during the challenges and transitions that come with college life.

I’ve always been a creative soul. I love painting, drawing, photography, fashion, and making videos, all ways I express myself and capture the beauty of life. My interest in social media began with sharing these memories and moments, and over time, it has become a platform where I aim to inspire others and be a positive light. I also grew up dancing and playing sports, and dance, especially, has remained close to my heart as a way to express joy and emotion. Whether I’m watching a game, making a mood board, or editing a video, I love being surrounded by movement, art, and connection.

I’m proud to be Native American, from Window Rock, Arizona, on the Navajo reservation. The mountains, animals, and traditions I grew up with are a big part of who I am; they’ve grounded me and given me a deep appreciation for nature, culture, and community. I love hiking, caring for animals, and spending time with family. My favorite animal has always been the horse, a symbol of freedom and strength. I also love music from every decade; it connects me to my great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents in a way that makes me feel like I’ve lived through their stories. I’m so excited to share my voice through Her Campus and lead a chapter where everyone can grow, create, and feel at home.
