Hi! My name is Lucy Tomlinson and I am currently a junior at Illinois State studying Sports Communication with a minor in Mass Media! I am a sports reporter for the Vidette, an intern in the news and sports department for WZND, a sports anchor on TV-10 News and a sports production intern with Redbird Productions where I also sideline report for ISU women's basketball.
As a woman in the sports industry, I understand what it is like to feel undervalued and having to put in extra effort to be noticed. My goal at Her Campus is to help more women feel empowered and to give a voice to people who often feel silenced. When women can come together, changes can be made and thoughts can be understood. I am incredibly excited to expand my writing abilities and topics, and help women relate to one another on a more personal level.
I have been on the Dean's List every semester at ISU and am one of three students in the School of Communication nominated for the Robert G. Bone Scholarship, the highest undergraduate scholarship offered at ISU. My goal is to become a sports broadcaster/reporter and to help break down gender barriers in the world of sports.
