Livia is a Japanese-American and Dutch student who grew up in Switzerland. After attending UWC Atlantic, an international boarding school in Wales, she is now studying Anthropology at the University of St Andrews.
For Her Campus, Livia writes about social issues, mental health, relationships, identity, and the everyday experiences that can be surprisingly difficult to put into words. She is particularly interested in making conversations around mental health feel less intimidating and more honest, while exploring the social pressures and expectations that influence how young people see themselves and those around them. Her writing aims to combine personal observations with wider social questions, finding meaning in the seemingly ordinary parts of student life.
Outside of university and writing, Livia enjoys reading, writing poetry, playing basketball, making ceramics, experimenting with fashion, or going for long walks. She has a particular love for literature, spending quality time with her friends, and discovering new places. Having lived in several different countries and communities, she is constantly curious about the stories people carry with them and the ways those stories shape who they become. Through her writing, she hopes to explore those stories while making readers feel a little less alone in their own.
