My name is Laney Abbes, and I’m a senior at Rowan University studying Radio, Television & Film with a minor in Marketing. I’ve always been interested in media, and the ways people connect through entertainment and communication. My major has given me the opportunity to explore everything from television and film to radio and digital media, while my marketing minor has helped me understand the creative and strategic side of the industry. I’ve been recognized on both the Dean’s List and President’s List for my academic achievements, and I’m always looking for new ways to get involved and make the most of my college experience.
One of the biggest parts of my college experience has been being a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi. In 2026, I have the opportunity to serve as President of my chapter, where I lead our executive board, help coordinate chapter operations and events, and work alongside our members to create a strong and welcoming sisterhood. Being in a leadership position has taught me a lot about communication, organization, teamwork, and, most importantly, how to advocate for the people around me. AEPhi has given me some of my closest friendships and favorite college memories, and I’m excited to bring that perspective to Her Campus.
Back at home, I’ve worked in hospitality for more than three years, currently working as a server at Shadowbrook at Shrewsbury. Working weddings, banquets, and special events has taught me how to stay organized, adaptable, and calm in fast-paced environments while working with all kinds of people. When I’m not working or on campus, I love spending time with my friends, watching movies and TV, reading, cooking, and getting to hang out with my family and dogs.
Through Her Campus, I hope to share honest, relatable, and entertaining content about college life, friendships, leadership, media, trends, and everything in between. As someone studying media and experiencing college from both a student and leadership perspective, I love finding ways to turn everyday experiences into stories that other people can connect with. I’m excited to represent Alpha Epsilon Phi while sharing a little bit of my own perspective, interests, and experiences with the Her Campus community.
