There are so many layers to each and every word we say, to each cause we advocate and to the value that each human life holds. Sadly it comes as no surprise when I see another black life vanish; another brutal, prejudicial killing. It shouldn’t be a surprise. If you are only just realising that there is a problem with global racism, not only am I shocked, but you now have a duty to speak out like everyone else. If you’re not black, then educate yourself. If you’re white, acknowledge your privilege and do something about it. I write this from my viewpoint as a non-black POC, and want to personally emphasise that we need both non-black POC and white allies for this cause. If you are black, I stand with you.
