Jisselle Porter

Baylor '28

Jisselle Porter is a first-generation American from Baldwin, New York, and a current undergraduate student at Baylor University. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Public Health through the Honors College, with plans to attend medical school and specialize in dermatology. What excites her most about medicine is not only the science behind it but also the opportunity to build meaningful connections with people and address the health disparities that affect underserved communities.

Her experiences have shaped her passion for service and advocacy. Jisselle has volunteered at a camp for children with cancer, participated in health fairs to promote skin health, and mentored middle school students through hands-on science activities. She has also interned in the ICU, where she shadowed physicians, observed procedures in the ER, and even contributed to a presentation on intracranial hemorrhage. More recently, she launched S.H.A.D.E. (Skin Health Advocacy and Dermatology Equity), an initiative dedicated to increasing awareness and access to dermatological care, especially for marginalized populations.

Outside of academics and healthcare, Jisselle enjoys exploring creative and wellness-focused pursuits. She has a love for Pilates and hopes to one day open a luxury wellness studio alongside her dermatology practice. She also enjoys traveling, reading, and finding inspiration in new cultural experiences. At her core, Jisselle is driven by curiosity, compassion, and a desire to create spaces—whether in medicine, wellness, or community—where people feel seen, cared for, and valued.
