Hey guys! My name is Jayda Brown and I'm a first-year Sociology major on the pre-law track at Hampton University and I recently moved from Ewa Beach, Hawaii. I'm a part of a military family so moving around is common for me. I was born in Atlanta, Georgia, moved to Ewa Beach, Hawaii, then to Savannah, Georgia, later on I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada for a year and a half, then I moved to San Antonio, Texas, moved back to Ewa Beach, Hawaii and my family recently moved to Maryland while I started my college journey here at Hampton University!
My interests consist of true crime, self-care/love, music, Marvel, and beauty. My top five movies are The Hate U Give, White Chicks, Rio, 10 Things I Hate About You, and Sinners. My two favorite artists are J. Cole and Tyler, the Creator. And finally, my top five shows are Black-ish, Pretty Little Liars, Criminal Minds, Brooklyn-99, and Abbott Elementary.
Ever since 7th grade, I've had it set in my head that I want to attend an HBCU and eventually become an attorney. I love helping people, being able to mentor, and I wish to become a voice for the people who aren't able to use theirs. The movie and the book, because there's a lot of information in the book that's not in the movie, The Hate U Give had a very big impact on my life and it's one of the things that inspired me to start the journey I'm on now. I'm happy to be a part of Her Campus community and I'm very excited to meet everyone!
